Cornwallis 1828, is the home of Peter Newport Bragg.

Braggs Homestead is a historical working homestead of 1828 in the Alabama Black Belt region. The homestead offers unique accommodations for school field trips and birding tours for adults and children. The homestead offers some of the best hunting of deer, turkey and hog in Alabama. Braggs Homestead sits in Braggs, Alabama, named after Peter Newport Bragg, in Lowndes County. The homestead is located conveniently between Selma and Greenville, near popular antiquing destinations, as well as the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, just ten minutes away.
Braggs Homestead is a working homestead full of activities, with artfully re-enacted 1800s-era historic presentations, a cabin and the original home of Peter Newport Bragg, put together with wooden pegs. We are known for our location in the historic Black Belt region. Here on the homestead is a 12-acre lake over 70 years old, with trophy bass and bream, and a small, two-acre lake with crappie, bass and bream.
Step back in time and sit by one of the two fire pits on the big lake and enjoy coffee on one of four porches overlooking the water.
Contact us directly to book events on the homestead. The homestead offers activities, such as nature trails, birding, fishing, hunting, school field trips and overnight stays in the cabin on a working homestead.
