What to expect

Join us for our second annual “Doe Rodeo” in the Alabama Black Belt region. Hunters hunting for a purpose, this event gives hunters the opportunity to give to the less fortunate. This year’s event will be “free” to each hunter entering and once again will be hosted by Cornwallis 1828 and Donation Outdoors from the Sportsman Channel. We are also excited to have Shama’s Place as a part of this year’s event.

Our goal

The goal of the event each year is to take as many does as possible to be processed and donated to local food banks in order to provide as much fresh deer meat as possible to be distributed to those in need.

Event highlights

Come and enjoy our hunting and food vendors on December 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also, make plans to attend this year’s new worship service at 11 a.m. on the grounds of Cornwallis 1828. Everyone is welcome, including hunters and the community at large.
The awards ceremony will begin December 15 at 1 p.m.

Important reminders

This year’s event will be free for hunters to enter. Each hunter will receive a red ticket for each doe they bring to donate to food banks in the Alabama Black Belt region. There is no limit to the number of does that may be donated by each hunter (subject to the limit of Alabama state law, 2024). The more red tickets a hunter has, the better chance he or she has at winning during the awards ceremony on December 15 at 1 p.m. There is no limit to the number of awards a single hunter may win.
All attendees (hunters and non-hunters) to the event will receive a blue ticket for an opportunity to win awards during the ceremony.

Event rules

Each hunter is allowed to harvest as many does as he or she can during the dates of the event. Each hunter is to abide by the laws of the State of Alabama during the 2024 deer season. Hunters will be able to drop off any does harvested during the dates of the 2024 event. The drop-off location is Cornwallis 1828 each day until 7pm located at 17204 State Highway 21, Braggs, AL 36761. Each hunter will be given a red ticket for each doe he or she drops off; however, each hunter will adhere to the legal number of does allowed per day by the laws of the State of Alabama during the 2024 deer season.

Community engagement

This year’s event is free. We will accept any donation to help cover the cost of the event. Your donations allow us to organize this event each year for the purpose of area hunters’ engagement in harvesting the legal limit of does per day during the event for the purpose of donating the meat to area food banks,
Social invitation
Spread the word. Invited friends, family and hunting clubs to participate in this year’s event.
