About the Cabin

Enjoy a family getaway and venture back to nature with a stay in the three-bedroom log cabin on the big lake here at Cornwallis 1828, a working homestead.  Enjoy a Southern breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the barn porch overlooking the boathouse on a 12-acre lake, with eggs fresh from the chicken coop and meats from our smokehouse.   After breakfast, explore the living history of Bragg Homestead, home of Peter Newport Bragg, a soldier in the Revolutionary War who fought against General Cornwallis. Explore five miles of nature trails, complete with birding opportunities, and fish one of our lakes for trophy bass, bream and crappie. Or just relax with a glass of wine around one of our fire pits by the lake.

Experience a working homestead, chicken coop, smokehouse, garden area, fruit orchard, vineyard, bottle tree, cane mill and apiary.

This original log cabin, 1828, was preserved and is a part of the Braggs homestead, in the Alabama Black Belt region.
